Ramsbury School Development Trust

The Ramsbury School Development Trust (RSDT) is a charitable trust created in 1997 to support the provision of education in Ramsbury Primary School to complement government funding. It does this by managing the trust fund and its income primarily for the following purposes:

Primary Objectives

The purchase of teaching aids, books, equipment and supplies required for the general educational welfare of the students and staff of the school.
To assist in the repair, maintenance, improvement, expansion or modernisation of the school’s buildings and grounds.
The remuneration of full-time or part-time teaching, administrative and maintenance staff at the school.
The provision of grants to enable students and staff of the school to participate in courses or events away from the school’s buildings and grounds.
The provision of funds to meet any other requirements requested by the Head Teacher or Chair of Governors.
The provision of enrichment activities including cookery, French in KS1, school orchestra, artist visits and termly Blast Off activities.

The RSDT is managed by the Trustees, currently:

Chair: Susan Suchopar
Treasurer: Roger Greasley
Trustees: Joanna Price (Head Teacher)
Anna Whitehead
Lydia Leighfield
Victoria Compton
Ian Smith

The Trustees meet at least twice per year.

What We Do

Since its inception the RSDT has existed alongside the PTA. However in general (though not exclusively) the RSDT has supported, and continues to support the larger capital projects in the school. It has also been the main vehicle for raising funds in the Ramsbury community, rather than from the parent body, for example in the major fundraising campaign for Our Great New Space.

Examples of projects supported by the RSDT:

  • Laptops
  • DT launch visits to Harry Potter World (KS2) & Legoland (KS1)
  • Interactive whiteboards in all classes
  • Our Great New Space
  • The kitchen/resource room refurbishment
  • Teaching Assistants
  • French throughout the school
  • Replacement of perimeter fencing

Without RSDT support the school would not have been able to provide the breadth and quality of education and resources that the children currently enjoy.

How We Operate

The RSDT primarily raises funds through regular donations from parents. These regular donations mean a steady stream of income to the school and enable the Trustees to plan ahead, confident of a reasonably guaranteed income stream. We ask all parents, if they can afford it, to consider becoming a regular donor to the RSDT for the duration of their child’s time at the school. You can donate any amount per month and it is surprising how much even a small regular donation mounts up.

In addition, as the RSDT is a charity, the RSDT can claim Gift Aid on these donations if you are a UK taxpayer. This significantly increases the benefit to the school at no extra cost to the donor, as shown below:

Monthly amount Annual amount Over 7 years With Gift Aid
£5 per month £60 per annum £420 £525
£10 per month £120 per annum £840 £1050
£20 per month £240 per annum £1680 £2100

If you do not feel able to make a regular donation to the RSDT, you can donate a single gift at any time. To make a regular or single donation, please request an application form from the school office.
