Details of our CPD offer for AY22/23 are provided in the calendar on the Events page. The following school support will continue this academic year:

English Hub Programme Events: Early Reading and Phonics Showcases
Join us for a free training event where senior leaders and teachers can share best practice in phonics and early reading. Events are fully funded subject to eligibility and two attendees per school are permitted, one of which must be the Headteacher. £150 supply costs for full day events will be paid to schools meeting Department for Education funding criteria and completion of a showcase response form. During a showcase schools will have the opportunity to:
  • Take part in early reading lesson studies to explore effective teaching through observations and discussion across EYFS and Year 1
  • Complete a school reflection activity to identify the strengths and improvement priorities for their own school
  • Find out about access to subsequent support, including applying for English Hub resource funding and how to access free tailored support to develop early language in their own school
Early Reading and Phonics Audit
After reviewing a school’s reflection activity, Ramsbury English Hub will invite qualifying schools to participate in a school-based audit of their early language and reading provision. The audit will be led by one of our Specialist Teachers and it will focus on areas such as the school’s phonics programme and consistency, use of decodable books, early language provision and reading for pleasure.
Resource Funding
Ramsbury English Hub can offer financial support to qualifying schools to invest in phonics training and resources for a validated SSP. These resources will be match-funded by schools to a capped amount and informed by a careful needs analysis of the school’s current provision. If schools meet two of the following criteria the Hub has the discretion to offer unmatched (outright) funding, up to a capped amount:
  • Lower than average percentage of pupils meeting the expected standard in the PSC (2019)
  • Low attainment in the bottom 20% of children (identified in termly SSP assessment data)
  • A higher than average proportion of children eligible for pupil premium (2019)
  • Ofsted judgement of Requires Improvement or Inadequate
  • A high proportion of groups considered hard to reach such as EAL, FSM, etc.
  • Schools referred by local partners (eg NLEs, LAs)
  • Schools that sit in an Education Investment Area (for our region this is currently schools in Swindon and Dorset)
