Today we celebrate World Book Day 2022!
The day kicked off with a fantastic assembly led by Mrs Creed.
The children were all asked to bring in their favourite book in to school. Mrs Creed introduced the day and informed the children of all the fun things we have planned, including ‘STOP, DROP & READ!’. At any time throughout the day, the school bell will ring and all children, and staff, have to Stop, Drop and Read their books for 10 minutes!
Mrs Creed talked to the children about our ‘Ramsbury Recommends’, where each class has recommended their favourite books for others to read and enjoy. There is also a wish list available online to purchase some wonderful non-fiction books at the White Horse Bookshop for the school, at a discounted rate. For more details, please contact Mrs Creed on officeadmin@ramsbury.wilts.sch.uk
We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you for all of the non-fiction books that you have kindly bought for us – we are currently at 28, which is wonderful and the children are very excited to start reading them.
Today we have live narrator performances by Catherine Rayner for KS1 and Michael Rosen for KS2 and we launched ‘Newsday Tuesdays’!
The assembly finished with a brilliant live staff performance of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s book, Room on the Broom.
Narrated by Mrs Creed, the storytelling included some hilarious acting by Mrs Pollock (the witch), Mrs Ritchie (the cat), Miss Price (the dog), Mrs Woodhouse (the bird), Mrs Pilkington (the frog) and a very scary, Mrs Hinder (the dragon).
Tonight we have a virtual ‘Snuggle Up Storytime’ at 6pm, stories read by Mrs Creed, Mrs Lucas and Mrs Pollock. Details on how to log on have been sent via Parentmail.
